Monthly Dark Moon Ritual to Hekate: At the Crossroads of Night
Step into the liminal space of the Dark Moon and seek the presence of Hekate—Queen of Witches, Torchbearer, and Chthonic Keeper of the Keys.
Every month, as the night sky goes black and the veil grows thin, I open the crossroads to host a traditional working honoring Hekate. The Dark Moon (often called Hekate’s Deipnon) is the most potent time in the lunar cycle to banish what no longer serves, illuminate the shadows, seek fierce protection, and unlock the doors of your personal power. Whether you need her torch to guide you through the underworld of a difficult transition, or her keys to open roads that have been blocked to you, this communal altar is a space to weave your intentions into the dark.
I offer four ways to anchor your energy into this monthly spellcraft, allowing you to choose the depth of the working that best aligns with your spirit.
The Offerings
1. The Cauldron’s Breath (Name Added to the Altar) Your full name will be written onto the master petition and placed beneath Hekate’s wheel on the working altar. As the offerings of garlic, honey, and dark wine are poured, and the ancient epithets are called, your spirit will be woven into the communal web of protection, obstacle removal, and dark moon blessings.
Perfect for: Monthly spiritual maintenance, honoring the Dark Mother, and maintaining a steady flow of her protective energy.
2. The Torchbearer’s Ember (Name & Dedicated Tea Light) In addition to your name on the master petition, a dedicated tea light will be inscribed with your initials, anointed with Hekatean oil, and sparked to life upon the altar just for you. This creates a focused beacon of light in the dark, drawing Her eyes and protective energy directly to your energetic coordinates.
Perfect for: Seeking clarity on a murky situation, banishing minor negativity, or asking for a spark of illumination on your path.
3. The Key & The Flame (Name & Dressed Conjure Candle) For those requiring deeper spellcraft and stronger intervention. I will craft and consecrate a full-sized conjure candle specifically for your energy. It will be heavily dressed with traditional chthonic herbs, oils, and resins—such as mugwort, black storax, lavender, and a pinch of crossroads dirt.
